In July I filed 11 articles, writing about 9,000 words. Several articles were short at 500 words and the longest was 1,750 words at a $1/word, no less! I surpassed my monthly income goal of 5K in July, only the second time I’ve hit that benchmark this year.
Of the articles I wrote in July, seven were assignments (editors contacted me to write the story). The other four articles were commissioned pitches (editors bought the article ideas I sent them). I sent 18 pitches this month—two were commissioned, one is being considered, six were rejected, and nine are pending a response.

I have upcoming pieces in new-to-me publications including The Today Show, Ensemble Vacation Magazine, Time Out, Good Housekeeping, Women’s Health, Experience Life, The Compass, and Sliced.

I kicked off July with a road trip to upstate New York with my cousin in an EVU that was loaned to me. We had a wonderful time hiking to waterfalls, playing games, making vegan smores, and swimming in natural pools. I’ve spent the last three weeks at home in Puerto Vallarta, MX soaking up time with friends and simply enjoying paradise.
I’m heading back to Europe for all of August and have plans to visit Sweden, Serbia, Slovenia, Italy, and Malta. Follow my adventures on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
